I'm a librarian who disappears for long periods of time largely because I'm on the Notable Books Council for the Reference and User Services Association division of ALA. Therefore I spend large parts of the year reading around two hundred pages a day of stuff that I might have sort of picked, at best.

When I'm not working or reading stuff I didn't choose, I'm probably reading stuff I did choose. I'm also in the Society for Creative Anachronism, and I dabble a bit in steampunk, but both of those are actually really bad hobbies for me to have picked because I don't like making things. I like the dressing up and going to events parts, and the being outside the regular world part. I like theatre but time, money, and the availability of shows that sound remotely interesting don't always combine in the right was for me to see as much as I want.
